LOCKDOWN 2 UPDATE
As per lockdown 2 applicable
in India from 1st of July , 2020, things are moving a bit slowly. A
majority of employees in the transporters, shipping lines, airlines, forwards,
CHAs as well as courier companies in the several areas and major cities are working
from home. It causing some delays in document and in the transportation of
export import goods.
ð Due to extension of lockdown and its effect, only few percentage of working staffs are allowed to come to the offices from shipping and airlines as well as forwarding agents and CHAs. There is a high percentage of backlog at CFS and airport terminals. Due to India – China tension, 100% import shipments from China is monitoring by customs. It is being 100% examined at sea/air port. Import documents are filled and slow process of assessment and examination due to 100% examination delaying the other process at customs. It is also a big reason of limited customs officers being available to do examinations and approval of release import goods at customs.
There is also a big reason of delay in clearance of the goods which impact high demurrage / detention charges at port and some of them are still in lieu of clearance due to big delays.
Limited staff and workforce at customs, shipping lines and airlines as well as forwarders and CHAs effecting the export import business and lowering down confidence on import orders. Due to limited staff, there are major problems of poor communication lines, poor network connections, delay in release of invoices, Dos and other related documents and requirements.
Reducing workforce due to Covid 19 is also a big reason of delays.
All the sea/airlines are trying hard to extend the maximum possible co-operation within the limitation set by government bodies.
ð Due to lockdown, it is causing big problem in cash flow imbalance, while little revenue and cost of operations continuously rising. So airlines & shipping lines are bound for no extensions of free time, any discounts or on detention charges being given.
