The ever longest road transit way was from Calcutta to London and this route has bus service as well. This bus service had started from 15th April 1957 and lasted on 1973. When this bus service started then the fare from Calcutta to London was only 85 pound only (almost INR 7900/-) and during last riding, the fare was 145 pound (almost INR 13144/-). It had longest route ever used for road transit way. It has route from Calcutta to Banaras, Allahabad, Agra, Delhi, Lahore, Rawalpindi (Pakistan), Kabul (Afganistan), Tehran (Iran), Istanbul (Turkey), Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Vienna, West Germany and Belgium, London. It covers almost 20300 km run and passes through 11 countries at that time. The whole journey covers almost 3 months to travel from Calcutta to London.
